MEET CHRISTOPHER

Christopher C. King, MPA, MBA is a venture partner, startup investor, activist entrepreneur, professor, and author recognized by Black Enterprise, Village Capital, the National Institute of Health for impact and innovation achievements. The collection of this work led him to launch Theo Advisors and Theo Wealth to both invest in and directly support diverse founders. He has led angel rounds in a growing portfolio dating back to his first investment in 2020.

On his projects in philanthropy, he supported political and advocacy research for the City Fund and the campaign for systems of great schools. He is also the principal and founder at We Are Marcus (WAM), an education technology venture which creates scalable character analytics for students of color to affect suspension rates and substance abuse disorders. The company was founded in 2016. As the work continued, WAM re-launched WAM Academy in 2021 to build upon early successes.

He currently serves as adjunct faculty in the Information Systems Department at Howard University's School of Business. Prior to this appointment, he served as an instructor at D.C.’s Inclusive Innovation Incubator (in3), trainer at Citybridge Education Foundation, and presented his community-based findings at the Howard University School of Law. He holds a B.A. in Public Policy with honors distinction from Rockefeller College at the University at Albany, an M.P.A. from the Austin W. Marxe School of Public Affairs at Baruch College, and earned trustee scholar awards for his M.B.A. at Howard University’s School of Business. He served on the auxiliary board for After-School All-Stars and advises social impact organizations in five countries including the US, Dubai, UK, Africa, Colombia, and the Caribbean.
